Bad Reception received its first filmmaking award in Las Vegas in April 2009.

The Las Vegas International Film Festival was in its second year and already attracting large corporate sponsors such as Sony and  Audi.  Although the number of screened films is small in comparison to some festivals, all the screenings were well attended and very well organized.

On the night of the awards, 400 filmmakers packed the ceremony at the popular Eastside Cannery Hotel in Las Vegas.  Filmmakers from all over the world were represented, with award-winners travelling from New Zealand, the UK and Egypt to accept their awards.

The whole festival was a great success and is definitely a festival to watch in the near future. In the wee small hours, filmmakers discussed the ‘hows’ and ‘whys’ of the craft - commenting that LVFF seems aimed at fostering and acknowledging filmmaking talent.  

Resounding applause was given to award-winning screenwriter Larry Ridlen, who accepted his award and thanked the LVFF for recognising the hard work that goes into making independent films.
