Few ghost stories chill us like the ones surrounding real places, real people and real events. The Crooked House is a feature-length contemporary ghost story set in the  quaint English pub of the same name.   

 

Working with the current owners, Wayne and Jason Penn, the film and accompanying documentary attempt to tell the story of the ghosts that still inhabit this unique establishment.

Dudley is an English town dating back to the early 11th century, and

The area has a lot of ghost stories, perhaps more than some, because of the dangers faced by its residents in their normal working lives. Mining for limestone and coal, and iron and steel working was, and is, a treacherous business, and many lost their lives in the pursuit of a living wage. Underground fires still burn from time to time in disused and forgotten mine shafts.
